In this hands-on, full day class, students dive into the chemistry behind the skincare and self-care products they see every day. By making their own skincare products, they’ll explore how cosmetic chemistry connects to pharmaceutics, biology, and the importance of caring for their skin in a safe, healthy way.
Great for middle schoolers who love DIY projects, science experiments, chemistry, creativity, and feeling their best—inside and out.
Students will get to:
🧪 Experiment like cosmetic chemists
They’ll mix, measure, and formulate custom skincare products—learning what each ingredient does and how to choose (or create!) products that actually work for their unique skin and their preferences.
🌈 Celebrate diversity in beauty & science
Through guided discussions and examples from the industry, students discover how diverse skin types and lived experiences shape the world of cosmetology. They’ll also peek into the many career paths—from cosmetic chemist to dermatologist to product designer—that make the beauty and pharmaceutical industries shine.
🧼 Build healthy habits through science
Students learn how skincare ties into hygiene, self-care, and even medical needs—because taking care of yourself is both smart and empowering.
